“Baron, how do you feel about chicken and waffles for dinner?” Saori sat on Klaus’s bed as he worked on some new experiment. He stopped and looked over his shoulder.
“Chicken and…waffles.” He took off the safety goggles and looked at her incredulously.
She shrugged. “When I studied abroad in my world’s America, I remember my host mother made them once. Apparently where her family grew it up, it was a thing they ate once in a while. It’s just fried chicken with waffles on the side.”
Well, Klaus did like waffles. So what did he have to lose? “Go ahead. I’ll still be here.”
Saori jumped off the bed and went straight for the hotel’s kitchen. Sometime later, she returned with 2 plates. One was filled with freshly fried chicken and the other had waffles. There was some flour on her from all the cooking but she didn’t seem to care.
The two ate in relevant silence. “So…is it to your liking?” she asked as she cleared the plates. Klaus gave an approving nod. “Just one thing, actually no a few. Follow me.” She tailed after him. The kitchen? Was there something wrong with her cooking?
“Your waffles are quite excellent, however they could use some improvement. First off let’s take a look at the equipment.”
Several hours later, Kaiji entered the kitchen after a bad night of gambling, hoping to find his girlfriend to see how she was doing. Instead he found her and that baron who kept calling him a ‘ruffian’ staring at a waffle iron that seemed to have some extra parts that it wouldn’t normally have. The two were too engrossed with their work to notice Kaiji.
“Done. Let’s how it is.” Saori carefully lifted up the lid and carefully removed the waffle from the iron and onto a plate. The two took a bite from their quarter and the two went quiet.
“My god…this is…amazing. Success!” Saori then noticed Kaiji and walked over to him, giving him a kiss on the cheek. “Kaiji, you need to try this! I think the Baron and I have created the best waffle ever. Also we have fried chicken for chicken and waffles.”
Kaiji stared at it and then back to this girlfriend. “… Chicken and waffles?"
